Police in Delta nab three suspects for killing barber

Delta State Police Command has arrested three persons in connection with the alleged killing of a barber in Abraka, Ethiope East council of the state.

State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident, yesterday, did not however, disclose the names of the suspects and the deceased.

He said the suspects were arrested at the weekend, after allegedly killing the barber on November 30. The Guardian learnt that the suspects had contracted the barber for a N15,000 job but “the barber said he was too busy to do their bidding.”

After turning down their request, the suspects were said to have demanded their money, threatening consequences if he failed to comply.

“The barber”, it was learnt, “refunded N5,000 of the total money but promised to pay the remainder the next day. The three suspects, however, were not satisfied with the deceased’s response, and therefore went to his shop to ask for their money.”

According to sources, the suspects engaged the deceased in an argument, and when it became clear the barber was not ready to refund the money, a fight ensued. In the process, one of the suspects reportedly used an iron stick to hit the barber on his head.

The police image maker said the barber was rushed to a hospital, where he died while receiving treatment. He added that the suspects were currently being held at State CID Asaba.
