The Youth Assembly of Nigeria, YAN, Anambra State Chapter has organized her 2024 congress in Awka, the state capital.
The event held at Archbishop A.K Obiefuna Retreat and Pastoral Center Awka featured election of the Anambra State Ambassador of YAN, as well as state and some local government officers.
Beginning with ambassadorial post, the Anambra State Ambassador, YAN, Mr Charles Ezeaniekwe, was reelected for another term; followed by the election of about 16 local goverment Speakers, who later from among themselves elected the following as State Officers:
Comrade Chidubem Ezeani – Speaker, YAN, Anambra State Chapter
Comrade Okechukwu Ofobike- Deputy Speaker
Emeka Nwabude – Majority Leader
Chinonso Eminem – Chief Whip
Chidimma Mbaka – Minority Leader
Ukamaka Christiana – Deputy Majority Leader.
National Deputy Speaker, YAN, and Returning Officer for the election, Mr Albert Nwangwu, who earlier briefed participants on the open secret ballot system of the exercise, adjudged the election as free and fair, and advised those that emerged victorious to deliver on their promises, be the mouthpiece and always protect the interest of the youths in the state.
In his remark after the election, the Anambra State Ambassador, YAN, Mr Ezeaniekwe, thanked members for taking note of his contributions in the past and reelecting him.
He equally thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for making youth-inclusiveness topnotch in his administration, in addition to his youth empowerment programs, and tasked the youths to use what he called ‘equity contribution’ in helping to develope the state.
Others, including the Speaker, YAN, Anambra State Chapter, Comrade Chidubem, and his Deputy, Comrade Okechukwu, promised to ensure that the youths are reoriented for more positive contributions, and that they are better carried along in all the affairs of the state.
It was gathered that the reelection of Mr Ezeaniekwe as Anambra State Youth Ambassador has better prepared him to contest for the position of National Speaker of YAN, the legislative arm of youth platform.
