… alleges threats, attempts to scuttle justice
A Pastor of a new generation church, Mr. Elijah Emeka Ibeabuchi, has been accused of killing his wife with knife, and claiming that she fell from a 4 Storey building.
Ibeabuchi hails from Nimo in Njikoka Local Goverment Area, while the wife, Ogechukwu, nee Okafor, was married from Abatete in Idemili North Local Goverment Area, both in Anambra State.
It was gathered that due to threats by the accused, and suspicion that police operatives may scuttle efforts to get justice for the deceased, the incident, which happened on the 13th August 2024, was reported to the Anambra State Government through Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare by the family of the deceased.
Narrating the incident while seeking justice, an uncle to the deceased, Mr Samuel Onuorah; from Abatete, said he got a call from the accused husband that his niece, Ogechukwu, fell from a 4 storey building and died.
He explained that when they got to the mortuary where Mr. Elijah Emeka Ibeabuchi had deposited their daughters corpse, they discovered that their daughter did not fall from any building, but was rather killed with a knife due to stabs on her neck and chest.
The family also alleged that Mr Ibeabuchi intended to use his newborn baby for ritual, but while dragging the baby with his wife, he, the Pastor, stabbed Ogechukwu, and also scrapped her palm.
They urged the state government to come to their aid and help get justice for the deceased.
Responding, the Ananbra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, called on relevant stakeholders, women groups, human rights activists and social media users to support the government in ensuring that Ogechukwu gets justice.
It was gathered that the matter has been transferred from the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, to Police Zone 13 Ukpo, Anambra State, fueling suspicion of attempts to scuttle justice for the deceased.
