Hon. Francis Ibe Emerges Leader Of Orumba South LG Legislative Congress

The Councilor representing Owerre-Ezukala Ward One, Honourable Francis Ibe, has been elected as the Leader of Orumba South Legislative Congress, while his Onne/Enugwu-Umuonyia counterpart, Honourable Appolonia Ifeabunike, was elected as Deputy Leader.

The election held at Council Hall, Orumba South Local Goverment Secretariat, followed successful inauguration of the congress by the Mayor of the Local Government, Honourable Shedrack Azubuike.

In his pre-inauguration remarks, the Orumba South Mayor, who said that the shared vision of developing Orumba South LGA requires all to contribute in laying strong foundation to achieve set goals in education, primary healthcare, security, agriculture, maintenance of rural roads, and skill acquisition, promised open-door policy, and not to do anything that will undermine the integrity and vital role of the legislature.

Honourable Azubuike urged the Councillors to formulate templates and generate people-oriented bills that will assist in achieving set development objectives, adding that in weeks time, he would present the first budget of the council to the Councillors for legislative actions.

Speaking after his election presided over by the Clerk of the Council, Mrs Priscilla Akalugo, the Leader of Orumba South Legislative Congress, Honourable Ibe, who appreciated his colleagues for the confidence in choosing him to lead, promised to make values of integrity and collaboration his watchwords.

He assured that the legislature under him will work with the executive body for the good of the people of Orumba South, just as he thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo, party leadership and stakeholders for their unwavering support.

Councilor representing Owerre-Ezukala Ward Two, Honourable David Okeke, who described the day’s activities as in line with democratic ideals, said Orumba South Legislative Congress has a lot to gain from the leadership of Honorable Ibeh.

Motion for the adjournment of the day’s sitting was moved by the Councilor representing Akpu Ward, Honourable Anthony Nwosu, and seconded by the Councilor representing Ezira Ward, Honourable Obiora Izuogu.
