… speaks on contributions of the 8th Assembly

The Anambra State House of Assembly has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for his performance within three years in office.

The Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Somtochukwu Udeze stated this during a Press Conference with newsmen in his office in Awka.

He noted that the vote of confidence, was informed by reports he got from various House of Assembly committees that showcased the Governor’s performance in terms of infrastructure, security, human capital development, education, youth development, agricultural revolution, transformation of the House of Assembly Complex, societal reformation, welfare of the citizenry among others.

“When you look at all those sectors, governance and reforms in government, I think this is the right time to pass a vote of confidence that Mr Governor is doing well.

“You can pass now from Awka to Orumba in less than 30 minutes, Ekwusigo from Awka in less than 40 minutes, and you can go to Owba Ofemili, Ebenebe, Owerre Ezukala seamlessly on good roads.

“I have been telling some stakeholders that it’s not about Anambra of today but Anambra of 10 to 15 years. If you don’t start the infrastructural expansion of Anambra now, it will be very late to start tomorrow.

“Mr. Governor has done well and a lot of stakeholders believe he is doing the right thing and on November 8, 2025, Ndi Anambra will speak with one voice by voting Soludo for second term.

“When you have road infrastructure, the speed of economic development will be very high. Thus, I encourage Ndi Anambra to continue supporting Mr Governor,” Udeze submitted.

The Speaker further spoke on the contributions of the 8th Assembly to solving the security challenges in the state.

“Sometime last year, I was a little bit depressed about the security challenges in the state and we were looking for the best way to solve it.

“Early last year, we had a meeting with Mr Governor and agreed that the only way to fight crime is to make law; and we started looking at the old laws in terms of security. This was how we developed a framework and eventually produced the Homeland Security Law. Since we passed the law, potential culprits are on the run in the name of ‘Oso Soludo’ thereby restoring sanity in our land. To this end, other neigbbouring states like Delta, Imo and Enugu have started implementing what we have in our law.

“In terms of representation, this House of Assembly is number one. The resolutions and laws passed by this House, have actually helped Mr Governor to implement actions for the good of the state,” Rt Hon Udeze concluded.
