In a powerful act of philanthropy and compassion, the Founder of Ide Global Movement, High Chief Dr. Azubuike Augustine Ekweozor, Rff (Ide Umuawulu, Nwanayoeze), celebrated his birthday and that of his son, Nze Chimezie Austin Jnr, by giving the gift of health and hope to 30 financially stranded patients at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku.
According to Casmir Obiegbolu, through his annual hospital outreach initiative, Dr. Ekweozor offsetted medical bills totaling ₦6 million, enabling patients who had long been discharged but held back by financial constraints to finally return home to their families.
Though not physically present at the outreach, Ide Umuawulu was represented by his media aide, Mr. Casmir Obiegbolu, who led a delegation of supporters. These included coordinators of the Ide 4 Soludo Second Term Support Group, convener of Women Alliance for Soludo, Lady Chioma Ekwo, APGA Umuawulu Ward executives, friends, and members of the Ide Global Movement.
Speaking on behalf of the founder, Mr. Obiegbolu reaffirmed Dr. Ekweozor’s commitment to lifting the downtrodden and impacting lives meaningfully.
“This initiative is more than just charity. It is a reflection of empathy and humanity. Ide Umuawulu, through the Ide Global Movement, has consistently empowered widows, built homes for the displaced, equipped youths with skills, and reached the vulnerable through gestures like this,” he stated.
The day’s celebration began with a live broadcast on ABS Radio, where supporters and admirers shared tributes and testimonies about the celebrant’s life of impact and service. The mood of gratitude and celebration continued at COOUTH, where families of the beneficiaries described the gesture as “a miracle” and “an answer to long-standing prayers.”
A symbolic cutting of the birthday cake with the beneficiaries added a touching and emotional highlight to the outreach. Many were moved to tears, overwhelmed by the unexpected relief and compassion shown to them.
Later in the day, the celebration extended to Mbakwu, where children gathered to honor Ide Umuawulu in his absence. With songs and prayers, they expressed their appreciation and wished him continued blessings, wisdom, and strength.
The outreach also included light entertainment for patients, medical staff, and guests, bringing moments of laughter and joy into what are often trying times for many.
Once again, High Chief Dr. Azubuike Ekweozor’s birthday served not as a private affair, but a public demonstration of leadership through love, selfless service, and tangible impact. His actions reinforce a simple yet profound truth: true leadership is not about position or prestige. It is about touching lives, restoring dignity, and giving hope to those who need it most.
