Community pharmacists have been described as the face of pharmacy practice in Nigeria; being that they are the first port of call by health-seeking populace.

Chairman and founder of Alpha Pharmacy and Stores Limited, Sir Ike Onyechi, who stated this recently in Awka while chairing the opening ceremony of the “44th International Scientific Conference” of members of Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, ACPN, tagged “Ifeadigo 2025”, thanked the community pharmacists for their dedication and unparalleled professionalism over the years, noting that their services have continued to improve the health and well-being of communities they serve.

He recalled that during COVID-19 when health facilities were closed to the public, community pharmacists were available giving their professional services.

He stated that the theme of the conference, “Technology integration and personalized care: the future of community pharmacy practice”, can not come at a better time than now that community pharmacists are engaging in a more complex operations that can not do without the digitization of some aspects of their processes; from both the demand and supply aspects of the business, as well as the support structures of the organization viz human capital management and development, supply chain operations, POS and finance options, as well as regulatory compliance.

Technology integration, according to Pharmacist Onyechi, is the only way to go if the organization will engage in e-pharmacy, telepharmacy and all such innovative operations – to satisfactorily deliver quality service to teeming clientele.

He thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for hosting the event, describing Anambra as Pharmacist-capital of the nation; given the number of Pharmacists at the top echelon of the Soludo administration.
