“We are waiting for the Anambra State Government to set a date for the erection of boundary monument that would solve land dispute between Omor and Anaku communities in Ayamelum LGA of the state”.
The Commandant, Anambra State Command of the United Nigeria Chaplaincy, UNC, CSC Arinzechukwu David, stated this at the passing out parade of over 20 new members and awards ceremony of United Nigerian Chaplaincy, Anambra State Command, where he recalled efforts made to bring both communities together to agree on peaceful resolution of issues between them.
He said the new members (flags) have been equipped for moral formation in institutions, fight against cultism, reformation of prison inmates, rapid response in rescue operations, intervention in civil suits for peaceful resolutions; as in alternative dispute resolution, and assistance in proffering solutions to security challenges in the state.
He identified lack of operational vehicles and state secretariat as their challenges, calling for assistance to address them.
Earlier, the Commandant General of Chaplains, UNC, Dr Chris Daniels, advised the new members to be disciplined, peace Ambassadors and support Anambra state government in entrenching peace in the state, and to report issues beyond them to higher appropriate authority.
He also encouraged all interested in enthroning peace in the society to identify with the group.
While urging the Governor to approach them for peacekeeping, Dr Daniels also recalled successes made in Anambra and other communities outside the state.
He commended Governor Soludo for tackling insecurity headlong in the state, but called for restraining measures to avoid rights violations.
On his part, the Board of Trustees Admin, UNC, Chaplain General Uzoma Nwandu, said they will continue to do their best to enthrone peace in the state as they did in Ayamelum LGA, urging the new members to rededicate themselves to the peacekeeping and other services of the group, just as he encouraged more people to join.
Secretary, Anambra State Command of UNC, Chaplain Ben Odiwe also called for dedication and all round discipline in the selfless service to humanity and the Nigerian nation.
On behalf of the 20 commissioned Officers, the Class Captain, Chaplain Oliver Omaka, said their morale was already high as they are determined to assist the government of the day in making sure that peace reigns across the state.
